Sushi Boat is a fast-paced single-player fishing and cooking game where the player manages the process of catching, prepping, and serving fish in real time.

Interview:
✧In one or two sentences, what is your game about?

Sushi Boat follows a fisher who sails across the open sea while managing a sushi restaurant entirely on their boat. However, after a recent nearby meteor crash, the fish caught seem to be abnormal and the fisher wonders if they could somehow profit from this.

✧What was the inspiration of the game? What made your team decide to make this game specifically?

We were inspired by our childhood cooking and fishing games such as the Papa's series and the Club Penguin fishing mini game. We were attracted by the balance of coziness and difficulty in these game and we wanted to incorporate a sense of exploration/expansion that the setting of the open sea lends itself to.

✧Were there darlings that you had to kill? What were they? Why was the decision made to remove them from the project, and what were the reasons that you like the darling so much?

We really wanted to have a large variety of fish as well as a sort of "Pokedex" for them where you can look at all the ones you've discovered as well as their corresponding recipes. However, we quickly realized that there simply wouldn't be enough time to draw all the sprites for the fish and variety of sushi, so we decided to stick to just a couple different fish. We really loved this idea since it would've added to the sense of exploration and desire to progress to unlock every fish.
