You're a farmer grazing your cows in the field. Aliens come out of nowhere to kidnap your cows. Use your blasters to teach those extraterrestrial beef lovers a lesson.
Interview:
✧In one or two sentences, what is your game about?
Aliens Stole My Cows is a mixed-reality FPS game where players play as a farmer in New Mexico, fending off aliens attempting to abduct their cows.
✧What was the inspiration of the game? What made your team decide to make this game specifically?
he inspiration for Aliens Stole My Cows came from First Encounters VR, which successfully created a mixed-reality environment where monsters interestingly grow out of the walls of people’s own home. We were inspired to create Aliens Stole My Cows because we see immense potential in the mixed-reality field, which can be a game-changer by integrating gameplay into familiar settings.
✧Were there difficult moments when developing the game? What led to those difficult moments? What did you learn from it?
Developing in Mixed Reality itself is a challenge. The problem with the bleeding edge of technology is that developing for it becomes difficult becasue of lack of proper documentation and knowledge.
✧Were there darlings that you had to kill? What were they? Why was the decision made to remove them from the project, and what were the reasons that you like the darling so much?
Initially we planned to have some scenes behind the walls, and as player shoots the wall, the scene will be revealed. It was currently removed because we did not have enough time to make it. The mixed-reality part of the game has taken longer time than we expected.
✧Talk about your teammates! What was everyone’s role?
Aman Kapoor did all the programming and in-engine development. Ellen Chen did the UI.
